What is laser skin resurfacing ?

The CO2 laser remains the superior tool for aesthetic skin resurfacing, (a procedure design to remove superficial wrinkles around the eyes, lips, forehead and cheeks), so apparent in ageing skin. Patients with facial acne scars, enlarged pores, or sun-damaged skin with uneven pigmentation also make excellent candidates for this treatment.

How does it work?

Fractional Skin Resurfacing causes tiny dot, or pixel-like damage to treated areas in the skin, leaving most of the surrounding skin intact. New collagen is produced the injury to the dermis, which helps reduce the appearance of lines and scarring & acne. fractional Skin Resurfacing allows the skin to heal than if the whole area was treated, as the healthy, untreated tissue acts as a natural bandage whilst the treated area heals.

The result is that long term collagen stimulation occurs which over the next few months softens the lines and wrinkles.

What should I expect from my treatment?

You will feel a burning sensation on the skin immediately after the treatment which lasts 1-4 hours. There is about down time of 4-5 days, and after this you are pinkish/red. the skin continues to produce collagen for six months and the skin becomes rejuvenated (bye-bye wrinkles).

When can I see results.

Improvements can be seen with every treatment depending upon the amount of correction required. Approximately 2-3 treatments required monthly. Optimum improvement after Fractional Skin Resurfacing is usually 3 months as collagen remodelling and skin tightening continues

What kind of results can I expect?

Fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes and mouth, brown spots will be removed and deeper frown lines and grooves will be greatly softened. Large pores are reduced in size, and your overall skin texture and appearance will be firmer and tighter. Once the outer layer of skin has been partially removed, the new skin underneath presents a softer, smoother, more youthful appliance. The message from our many happy patients is that less than an hour with the fractional laser can erase up to ten years from your face.
